NYS Professional Engineer license and active registration

Duties Description Conduct inspections, monitor, and evaluate activities at solid waste management and recycling facilities to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and department authorizations. Evaluate permit/registration applications, engineering reports and engineering drawings to determine compliance with regulatory and technical design standards. Perform engineering analyses of facility designs and operations, analyze environmental monitoring data and work with design consultants and department staff to develop acceptable solutions. Provide outreach and technical assistance to the regulated community. Respond to and investigate complaints from the general public. Prepare inspection reports and communicate inspection results to facility operators and consultants. Initiate enforcement actions as appropriate. Prepare and present results of analyses, inspections, and research assignments to managers and other department staff. Must be competent with Microsoft Excel, Word and Power Point. Experience with GIS is favorable. Must be able to manage multiple projects. Must be able to read and interpret regulations, technical documents and engineering plans and discuss technical details with other licensed professional engineers. Must have strong verbal and written communication skills and be able to communicate effectively and professionally with the the regulated community, consulting engineers, other involved regulatory agencies and the general public. Supervisory responsibilities may also be required as part of the position.

Additional Comments Must have a valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position. Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain Must be able to work in remote areas. Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions. Travel may be required. Overtime may be required.
