Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Reassignment: Candidates must have one year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service as a Supervisor of Higher Education Programs.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Preference may be given to candidates who have:
• Significant experience working with regulations governing the registration of academic programs leading to teacher, educational leader, and pupil personnel services certification.
• Familiarity and experience working with NYS educator preparation stakeholder groups.

Duties Description The New York State Education Department’s (NYSED) Office of Education Policy is seeking candidates for a Supervisor of Higher Education Programs position in the Office of College and University Evaluation (OCUE). Reporting to the Director, the incumbent will have general responsibility for setting the overall direction of OCUE’s Teacher Education Team and ensuring effective implementation of New York State’s regulations related to educator preparation programs (EPPs). Duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Direct the work related to NYSED’s oversight of EPPs, including registration of academic programs that lead to teacher, leader, and pupil personnel services certification;
• Advise the Office Director and Senior Department staff on policy matters related to EPPs;
• Develop regulatory and policy amendments related to EPPs;
• Collaborate and communicate with sector leaders (SUNY, CUNY, CICU, APC, USDE), accrediting agencies, and other stakeholders around EPPs and related matters;
• Develop recommendations for consideration by Senior Management and the Board of Regents concerning matters related to EPPs in NYS;
• Supervise and lead OCUE’s Teacher Education Team staff members; and
• Other priority projects including involvement in the OCUE Modernization project and closures of degree-granting institutions.

Additional Comments CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: This will be a permanent appointment. Promotions and transfers may change appointees’ negotiating unit. Candidates should be aware that changes in negotiating units may affect their salary, insurance, and other benefits. This position will require (5%) in-state/Statewide travel.

This position leads to a maximum salary of $130,270 based on annual performance advances.
