Minimum Qualifications Two (2) years permanent service as a New York State employee in a title allocated Salary Grade 6 or higher,


One (1) year permanent service as a New York State employee in a title allocated Salary Grade 9 or higher,


High School diploma and two years of experience in an administrative support role, which includes use of office software (e.g., email, word processing), provision of customer service, business writing, and/or management of an office.

Duties Description The Program Aide position is in the non-competitive class and will be filled through the review of a résumé and a personal interview process. A Program Aide functions as a paraprofessional who performs a wide variety of administrative activities and tasks in support of a professional and/or technical position within the Division.


Provide employees with information regarding the New York State Health Insurance Program (NYSHIP). Answer questions regarding available programs, employee/dependent eligibility and enrollment options.

Prepare correspondence for the Director of Human Resources or Human Resources Specialists’ approval and signature relating to employee benefits.

Respond to telephone inquiries received from employees and retirees regarding all aspects of the benefits program.

Distribute public information memorandums concerning benefit changes, option change period and any other new coverage benefits to employees.

Responsible for providing supervision, training and guidance to other Human Resources employees.

Assume other administrative tasks as assigned by the Human Resources Specialist 1.
