Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be in title or on the Civil Service eligible list for this location to be eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 in a designated title determined by the New York State Department of Civil Service.

Promotional qualifications: Must be a qualified employee of New York State and have had one year of permanent competitive, non-competitive, or 55-b/55-c service as a Dietitian 2 AND;
Either 1. have a current registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) as a Registered Dietitian (RD);
Or 2. have your New York State Education Department (NYSED) certification in dietetics-nutrition AND have completed a minimum of an additional 400 hours* of supervised dietetics practice under the supervision of an RD.

Open competitive qualifications: For all other qualified individuals you must have: two years of post-registration/certification professional administrative experience in a food or nutrition program of which one year MUST have included supervision AND;
Either 1. have a current registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) as a Registered Dietitian (RD);
Or 2. have your New York State Education Department (NYSED) certification in dietetics-nutrition AND have completed a minimum of an additional 400 hours** of supervised dietetics practice under the supervision of an RD.
*Qualifying experience: For the purposes of the examination, professional administrative experience is defined as duties focused on planning, coordinating, and supervising a nutrition services program that includes one or more program components: food distribution, food production, clinical dietetics, outpatient nutrition services, or quality management services in a community-based, residential, hospital, or institutional nutrition services program setting.
**The additional 400 hours required is in addition to the 800 hours of supervised dietetics practice under the supervision of an RD required for NYSED certification. On your application you must provide the name of the institution where you obtained the additional hours; the name of your supervisor; and your supervisor's qualifications.

Duties Description Applicants must have the ability to work independently and with groups, possessing excellent organizational, time management and communication skills. Must be a team player. Willing to assist in management of all aspects of provision of Nutrition Services in the 10-county area of Region 1 Finger Lakes. Willingness to travel as needed and willingness to flex time to allow for travel and completion of duties is required.

Assist in supervision of departmental staff; including, not limited to, completion of performance evaluations, new dietitian orientation and training/mentoring and approval of time off requests. Assist in completion of TIMES and travel submissions for those directly supervised. Currently, the supervision will be of the Monroe Development Center duty-based dietitians, however, this will change based on the needs of the department. Assist Nutrition Services Admin 2 (NSA2) in ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations and in developing policies, procedures and quality assurance indicators related to departmental operations. This will include completing clinical audits for all homes on an annual basis. Assist NSA2 in tracking the departments meal visits and assisting with meal visits in homes with challenging mealtimes, in addition to completion of meal visits for homes on the NSA1 caseload. Assist in developing training programs in response to agency needs and then willingness to carry out that training where/when needed. Participate in NEO meal management, Beyond the Basics and CPI refresher trainings as scheduled and as needed. Serve on agency committees, such as, the Food or Liquid Consistency Error Committee, and others as needed/requested. May work with administrative, clinical and/or direct care professionals on interdisciplinary projects. Must be willing to maintain a clinical caseload to be determined based on departmental needs. Initially, the caseload will be in the Greater Rochester Area, however this will change as the needs of the department and agency change. Must be willing to cover additional IRAs, as needed, when there are homes in need of coverage. Additional tasks as requested by NSA2.
