PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Principal Psychologist will clinically supervise and manage the duties of a team of psychology staff in Capital District DDSO. The incumbent will provide a full range of evidenced-informed psychological services, providing training and consultation services to the clinical teams, direct support staff, individuals, and management as needed, and serve on local and statewide committees/workgroups as needed. The Principal Psychologist will participate in the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of psychological programs and services in addition to providing clinical support and/or supervision to master’s level psychologists.

• Provides supervision, training, technical assistance, direction for psychology staff, ensuring regulatory compliance and implementation of evidence-informed treatment practices.
• Will provide training and consultation as needed for residential and day-program staff.
• Will ensure completion of legally required documentation.
• Participates in the Human Rights Committee to review of behavior support plans (BSPs) containing restrictive interventions and provide clinical oversight for non-restrictive BSPs and medication monitoring plans, ensuring documentation is complete and legal requirements are met.
• Responsible for oversight of high-risk cases and forensic plans to manage risk through effective supervision and treatment approaches, working in collaboration with Central Office (Bureau of Intensive Treatment Services, Counsel).
• Conducts evaluations, including cognitive, adaptive, developmental, guardianship, competency, risk, in addition to forensic or clinical assessments as needed.
• Participates in local and statewide committees/workgroups as needed, i.e., risk management, special review committee, restraint reduction, Psychology Community of Practice and works in collaboration with local and central office leadership.
• Samples and reviews management of cases, assignments, case problems, issues, and methods of treatment by the treatment team.
• Consults with managers regarding individual's specific needs.
• Assists in tracking, monitoring and analysis of data such as informed consent, behavioral data, progress monitoring.
• Assists in the training, implementation, and ongoing utilization of the Electronic Health Record as it pertains to the psychology department.
• Will take a lead role in ensuring best practices and will adhere to discipline standards.
• Assists with development, review, training, and implementation of Capital District policies.
• Participates in the *Administrator on Duty (AOD) rotation (i.e., after-hours coverage rotations for emergent needs).
• Serves in the capacity of the Chief during planned/unplanned absences to ensure continuity of care and oversight across Capital District.
• Attend and participate with psychology department meetings.
• Assist with policy development and revisions.
• Make site visits for clinical oversight and to build relationships.
• Other duties as assigned.
