Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree* with at least 15 credit hours in cyber security, information assurance, or information technology AND three years of information technology experience including two years of information security or information assurance experience**.

Substitution*:
• Bachelor's degree candidates without at least 15 course credits in cyber security, information assurance, or information technology require an additional year of general information technology experience to qualify.
• Appropriate information security or information assurance experience may substitute for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis. An associate degree requires an additional two years of general information technology experience.

**Experience solely in information security or information assurance may substitute for the general information technology experience.

Preferred Experience:
• Experience managing virtualized infrastructure, Cisco switches and firewalls preferred.

Duties Description Duties included but not limited to:
• Responsible for a mid-sized IT environment that supports DHSES Cyber Incident Response Team (CIRT) operations.
• Manage and participate in all phases of system design, configuration, and maintenance.
• Monitor and routinely report on system health and security.
• Document and securely configure switches, firewalls, servers, security appliances, and applications.
• Develop secure system baselines and audit compliance against those baselines.
• Install, configure, document, and maintain network security systems.
• Perform and test system backups and disaster recovery operations.
• Manage user accounts, permissions, and access rights.
• Identify vulnerabilities and propose mitigations.
• Train staff members on the use and administration of IT systems.
• Manage and oversee hardware and software renewal and procurements and work with DHSES procurement teams and vendors to track and expedite purchases.
• Support the various DHSES CIRT cyber programs (Cyber Risk Assessments, Cyber Incident Response, Tabletop Exercises, and ad-hoc initiatives).
• Support cyber security meetings, presentations, seminars, etc., to foster information-sharing and awareness.
• Help develop, deploy, document, and formalize proactive and reactive cyber offerings and initiatives.
• Assist in disaster response and recovery activities as required and assigned.
• Travel may be required (approximately 10%), including during evening and weekends, depending on mission and assignment.
• Possession and maintenance of a valid Driver’s License issued by the NYS Department of Motor Vehicle is required, or otherwise demonstrate the capacity to meet the transportation needs of the job.

Additional Comments NOTE: Support of operations during times of emergency and disaster from State Emergency Operations Center (EOC), state field offices and/or local deployments may be required, which would result in a change and/or increase in working hours, locations and/or duties.
