Minimum Qualifications Permanent Qualifications: Candidates must currently be a permanent Developmental Disabilities Program Specialist 1
OR be reachable on the current Civil Service eligible list.

Transfer Qualifications: Candidates must be eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.

Provisional Qualifications: Candidate must a qualified employee of Office of People With Developmental Disabilities with one year competitive service in a position at a Grade 16 or above.

*Preferred Qualifications: QIDP (Qualified Intellectual Disorder Professional) designation requires one year's experience working with people with a developmental disability AND a bachelor’s degree or higher in a human services field (including, but not limited to: sociology, special education, rehabilitation counseling or psychology).

Duties Description The Developmental Disabilities Program Specialist 1 (DDPS1) will be responsible for the daily administration and supervisory oversight of the Noxon Day Habilitation and Pre-Vocational Program and Milton Day Hab, supervising 19 DSAs, 2 DA 2s, and 9 clinicians. The DDPS1 is the direct supervisor for the 3 DA2's, 2 Hab Spec 2s, and 2 Rehab Assistant 2s. The DDPS1 would participate as a member of the team. They would exhibit and promote professional cooperation and communication with other team members and consistently interface with them to advocate for the individuals’ access to services.
Responsibilities to include but not limited to:
• Oversees compliance for appropriate documentation for individuals participating in the day habilitation and pre-vocational programs, ensuring direct support staff complete appropriate documentation for the individuals they are directly supervising.
• Ensures all staff trainings are up to date and staff are knowledgeable regarding policies, procedures, health bulletins and memorandum.
• Provides support to the DA2's and Hab Spec 2 for any personnel issues that arise, following Taconic policies, and union contractual requirements.
• Acts as Taconic DDSO transportation liaison, attends meetings as needed with transportation vendor.
• Ensures compliance with billing standards for the Day Habilitation and Pre-Vocational waiver services.
• Oversees active files of the individuals at the program ensuring that they are up to date.
• Schedules Lifeplans for the individuals at the program
• Ensures that Program areas are maintained, clean, and free of hazards.
• Staff Action Plans are implemented, and progress is monitored.
• Direct care staff perform all assigned tasks during their shift.
• Behavior plans are implemented as written.
• Other duties as assigned.
