Subsequent 55 B/C Qualifications:

A subsequent 55b/c appointment may be considered if you have one year of permanent or contingent-permanent service in a Grade 13 or higher title* determined to be similar by Civil Service and have a current Civil Service 55b/c approval letter.

52.7 Non-Competitive Promotion (NCP) Qualifications:

Announcement of proposed Non-Competitive Promotion Exam. To be eligible for NCP, candidates must be in the Department of Labor promotion field and have one year or more of permanent, contingent-permanent or 55 b/c service as an Administrative Assistant 1. If 3 or fewer qualified Department of Labor Administrative Assistant 1 respond to this posting, Civil Service may approve the permanent appointment of one of the qualified Administrative Assistant 1 without further examination.

Note: Non-competitive refers to not competing in an examination; the appointment will be competitive.

Provisional Qualifications:

You must be a qualified Department of Labor employee and have had one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as an Examination Composition Assistant, Keyboard Specialist 2, Keyboard Specialist 2 (Spanish Language), Keyboard Specialist 3, Law Department Document Specialist, Office Assistant 2 Keyboarding, Office Assistant 2 Keyboarding (Spanish Language), Administrative Assistant 1, Administrative Assistant 1 (Spanish Language), or Senior Data Entry Machine Operator.

Only the titles listed are qualifying. The appointed candidate would have to take, pass and be reachable on the next holding of the examination to be appointed permanently.

70.1 Transfer Qualifications:

One year of permanent or contingent-permanent as a Grade 13 or higher determined to be similar by Civil Service.*

*Keyboarding proficiency is a minimum requirement for this position. Candidates who have not previously held a keyboarding title must pass a 5-minute typing session and must achieve a speed of 30 words per minute (WPM) with at least 96% accuracy in order to meet the Civil Service keyboarding standard.

Duties Description STANDARD DUTIES:
As an Administrative Assistant 2, you would establish and maintain office procedures and manage daily office operations; handle incoming correspondence and draft responses; review outgoing correspondence; maintain office filing systems; maintain efficient work flow; resolve day-to-day office operations problems; handle telephone calls and visitors and respond to questions; sort and log mail; organize, expedite and follow-up on projects; coordinate and arrange meetings.
