Transfer Eligible - One year of permanent competitive service at Salary Grade 7 or higher and:
Eligible for transfer under Section 70.1: Permanent competitive service as an Office Assistant 2, Office Assistant 2 (Calculations), Office Assistant 2 (Keyboarding), Office Assistant 2 (Stores/Mail), Secretary 1. Also any language parenthetic for the above titles. Additional titles which qualify can be found on the Department of Civil Service website, search "GOT-IT".
NY HELPS MIN QUALS: One year of clerical experience.
Duties Description • Assist the divisional Administrative Specialist 1, Environmental Program Specialist 1, and Program Aides with all aspects of the division’s Personnel/Human Resources and hiring issues, Fiscal/Finance/Procurement issues, & the Assistant Forest Ranger Program.
• Develop business cards for the division’s staff.
• Assist with maintaining statewide duty officer schedule.
• Assist with printing certificates and cards for trainings.
• Maintain Forest Ranger Captains' calendars.
• Answer phones, set up Outlook meetings, & order office supplies.
• General file maintenance, photocopying, scanning & processing mail, calculations, keyboarding, record keeping and filing, inventory, data entry and verification and document preparation.
• Receiving, unpack, sort, and repack for shipment various uniform and equipment items maintained in the division’s storerooms.
• Process invoices and vouchers, gather data such as price quotes and bids, and prepare written documents such as purchase requisitions and purchase orders, and other related documents.
• Record keeping and filing related to divisional fiscal management and procurement.
• May be assigned to supervise part-time/temporary employees.
Additional Comments Must undergo a background investigation prior to appointment. Candidate will be responsible for fingerprint processing fees. Telecommuting may be available, will be discussed at interview.

For new State employees appointed to graded positions, the annual salary is the hiring rate (beginning of the Salary Range) of the position. Promotion salaries are calculated by the NYS Office of the State Comptroller in accordance with NYS Civil Service Law, OSC Payroll rules and regulations and negotiated union contracts.
