Minimum Qualifications Must possess a current NYS Security Guard License and demonstrable experience as a security officer in private and public settings. Candidates must successfully pass a background screening including a physical/medical assessment.
Duties Description Position Description:
Security Services Assistants 1 (SSA) will reports to the Duty Lieutenant and follow directions of Police officers and Communications Specialists. Additionally, SSA
• Will be primarily assigned to desk duties for access control into the building and enforcement of Identification policy.
• Will conduct patrol duties enforcing college regulations and deter the commission of crime.
• Whenever it is necessary SSA will escort or order unruly clients, patients or visitors away from College premises.
• Will conduct building checks as well as opening and closing procedures of the building; including examining building exteriors for vandalism or intruders.
• Must assist, when requested by UPO, in the apprehension, arrest, or pursuit of suspicious persons, or persons committing a crime.
• Will check entrances, exits to insure that they are secured, and that no unauthorized persons enter the building or remain therein after hours.
• Will respond to incidents of medical emergencies, alarm activation, or unusual occurrences; including assisting sick or injured persons, or persons with disabilities.
• Will, while on patrol, report any observations of fire safety hazards as it pertains to obstructions or blockages of exits and hallways and building deficiencies.
• May be required to accept mail or packages delivered by couriers when mailroom is closed or not staffed.
• Would maintain a roster of persons entering or leaving the building during building hours and after hours and monitor security equipment.
• Will write non-criminal incident reports or service and regulatory report, and injury or accident reports in the event they respond or are witnesses to such occurrence. In addition, may take information pertinent to a crime incident report in the absence of a UPO.
• Will perform all responsibilities as designated in the fire safety plan and as a member of the fire brigade. In addition, SSAs will respond to all incidents of fire alarm activation to assist with resolution and when necessary the evacuation of building occupants to a safe area.
• Will maintain a daily activity logs during their tour of duty and complete all reports as required.
• Will attend an annual-in-service training and other professional development training as.
• Will complete all other duties as assigned.
