Minimum Qualifications Four years of full-time experience in a trade under a skilled tradesperson which would provide training equivalent to that given in a training, apprenticeship, or equivalent program; or an equivalent combination of experience and training gained by completion of technical courses in skilled trades at a school, institute, or branch of the Armed Services. When required to operate motor vehicles, candidates must possess a valid New York State driver's license appropriate for the type of vehicle to be operated.

Preferred: Maintenance skills required in electrical and plumbing, with an emphasis on carpentry.

Duties Description Responsible for the maintenance and operational upkeep of the entire Camp Colby Environmental Education Camp facility.
Perform upkeep of the facility grounds to include mowing, weed whacking, landscaping, cleaning. Use of chainsaw may be required. Responsible for tools and equipment maintenance, cleaning, and upkeep.
Facility maintenance to include scraping, pressure washing, painting, staining facility buildings, both exterior and interior.
Electrical Duties to include repairs to electrical outlets, panels, switches, ballasts, responsible for making sure facility meets electrical code standards.
Plumbing Duties to include repairs to plumbing fixtures, sinks and toilets may be required. Upkeep of the shower building and bathroom facilities. Shower and bathroom cleaning will be required.
Carpentry Duties to include ramp and deck and building repairs, design, and maintenance of facility carpentry projects. Assisting with the installation, repairs and maintenance to the docks and beach areas. Repairs to building exteriors, window installations, metal roofing installations. Responsible for facilities boats and motors and their upkeep.
Responsible for monthly checks and yearly certifications of fire prevention, AED, fire extinguishers and fire warning systems. Responsible for maintaining the fire alarm system as well as individual smoke detectors.
Responsible for the facility meeting current DOH codes and regulations, NYS Fire Codes, NEC Codes and NYS Building codes. Responsible for the potable water chlorination system (when utilizing the facilities well system and associated DOH requirements.
Responsible for the maintenance and operation of the facility’s SPEDES processes including duplex lift stations and grinder pump lift stations tied to municipal system.
Responsible for purchasing, inventorying, and maintaining necessary tools and equipment required for the facility.
Serve as DOH and NYS fire liaison for the Camp.
Will be responsible for snow removal and winter maintenance at the camp and surrounding areas when required.

Additional Comments Must have a valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position. Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain. Must be able to work in remote areas. Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions. Overtime may be required. Weekends and holidays may be required. Must be available for emergency response. Must be available to respond to after-hours emergencies. Must be able to lift and move objects up to 75 pounds. Must have certification to operate motorized boats or personal watercrafts at time of appointment.

This is a seasonal, hourly appointment with an anticipated end date of 3/31/2025. Program needs and funding will determine actual termination date. Actual work schedule, duties and travel requirements may vary and will be discussed at the interview.
