Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Student currently enrolled in an accredited engineering program (including but not limited to mechanical, electrical, civil or environmental) and pursuing a bachelors degree.
- Strong Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written & verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, & PowerPoint)
- A working knowledge of technical software and data analysis tools (a plus).

Duties Description The New York State Department of Labor (NYS DOL) is seeking a highly motivated and results-oriented Engineering Intern to join our Engineering Services Unit.

The Engineering Services Unit plays a critical role in supporting the NYSDOL's mission to protect worker' rights and ensure safe work environments. Our team of engineers provides technical expertise and analysis related to workplace safety and health regulations.

This internship offers a unique opportunity for a qualified candidate to gain valuable experience in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. You will work alongside experienced engineers on a variety of projects, including:

- Researching and analyzing building codes and safety standards applicable to workplaces.
- Writing and issuing engineering conditions for situations encountered in construction and renovations involving asbestos hazards.
-Reviewing engineering plans for ski lifts, places of public assembly, and powered scaffolds.
- Assisting with the review of engineering reports related to workplace safety inspections.
- Using technical software and data analysis tools to support engineering projects.
- Interact with public applicants using the Departments state of the art intake, review and approval software.
- Conducting field visits to workplaces (may require travel) to observe safety conditions and collect data.
- Conducting onsite inspections and testing of completed designs.


Additional Comments Recommended skills:
-Full microsoft suite with an emphasis on word, powerpoint and excel
-Ability to create visual graphics using data
