preferred Qualifications: The preferred candidate will have experience in the management of a federally funded public health program; demonstrate a strong understanding of state and federal government management processes, including fiscal and legislative; have experience with development, review and monitoring of grants and miscellaneous contracts; demonstrate strong data analysis skills; excellent communication and organizational skills; supervisory experience; and knowledge of Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Program regulations.

Duties Description The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC) is a federally funded nutrition program that provides nutritious foods, healthcare referrals and breastfeeding support to eligible pregnant women, breastfeeding women, and children under the age of five. The NYS WIC Program is administered by the Department of Health's Division of Nutrition.

This position is part of the management team in the Bureau of Supplemental Food Programs (BSFP) serving as the Fiscal Management Section State Operations Team Lead and will be responsible for the oversight of 13 staff and over $550 million in state and federal funding. The incumbent will be responsible for managing all aspects of state operations for the NYS WIC Program including budgeting, expenditure plans, purchasing, procurements, grant and miscellaneous services contracts, audits, internal controls, and state and federal reporting. This position requires excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a timely manner.

Additional Comments Contingent permanent, full-time, competitive, appointment.

This position may require travel throughout New York State including overnights to areas not served by public transportation.

Promotion salaries are calculated by the NYS Office of the State Comptroller in accordance with NYS Civil Service Law, OSC Payroll rules and regulations and negotiated union contracts.
