Minimum Qualifications Reassignment: Current New York State Department of Health employee with one year of permanent or contingent-permanent service as a Program Aide, Grade 13.

Transfer: New York State employee with one or more years of permanent or contingent-permanent service in title at Grade 11 or above, and eligible for transfer to Program Aide, Grade 13.


Preferred Qualifications: The preferred candidate will have experience providing administrative support for a large, multi-faceted public health program; experience with the Statewide Financial System; and familiarity with State purchasing policies and procedures. Strong organizational, and written and verbal communication skills are also preferred.

Duties Description This Program Aide position is located in the Bureau of Supplemental Food Program's Fiscal Management Section (FMS). The FMS is responsible for fiscal oversight and management of the New York State (NYS) Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC). Currently, the NYS WIC program serves a monthly caseload of approximately 442,000 participants through 85 local WIC agency grant contracts valued at $147 million.

The incumbent will be part of the team responsible for the processing and tracking of WIC program purchases via purchase requisitions and procurement card requests. The Program Aide will also assist with adding funding to contracts and purchase orders, reviewing and approving vendor invoices for payment, and assisting with the preparation of monthly and quarterly federal reports.

Promotion salaries are calculated by the NYS Office of the State Comptroller in accordance with NYS Civil Service Law, OSC Payroll rules and regulations and negotiated union contracts.
