Duties Description The Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) meets with the residents and the family members, upon admission and continually through the residents stay, to assess, evaluate, formulate and implement a plan of action based on the individual needs and strengths. The LMSW participates heavily in the development of interdisciplinary care plans, reviews and revises plans as needed to provide the best care for our Veterans, reviews, investigates and documents all resident/family complaints. In this position, the LMSW is essential to providing residents the psychological needs and resources for their mental and physical health, as well as assisting families in any long term care needs that they may need to consider.
Minimum Qualifications You must be licensed and currently registered by NYS as a Licensed Master Social Worker.
Current State employee with permanent or contingent-permanent status as a Licensed Master Social Worker 1 OR any NYS employee with one year of permanent or contingent-permanent service in a G-18 or higher title deemed eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.
Preferred Qualifications: Social Work experience in a skilled nursing facility working with geriatric residents.
NY HELPS: This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS).
For the duration of the NY HELPS Program, this title maybe filled via a non-competitive appointment, which means no examination is required but all candidates must meet the minimum qualifications of the title for which they apply (see minimum qualifications above). At this time, agencies may recruit and hire employees by making permanent non-competitive appointments.
At a future date (within one year of appointment), it is expected employees hired under NY HELPS will have their non-competitive employment status converted to competitive status, without having to compete in an examination. Employees will then be afforded with all of the same rights and privileges of competitive class employees of New York State. While serving permanently in a NY HELPS title, employees may take part in any promotion examination for which they are qualified.
Additional Comments This position is eligible for a $3400.00, downstate adjustment.
We are a 252 bed, state of the art, Skilled Long Term Care Nursing Facility providing Care to Veterans, their spouses, and/or widows or widowers in our community.
The filling of this position is pending budget waiver approval.
