Duties Description Essential Duties:
Under the supervision of the Director of Community Partnerships and Public Art, the Assistant Director will help develop and manage a varied portfolio of public engagement, artistic, and cultural activities in close partnership with local organizations, artists, and BPCA staff. They will plan and execute administrative steps required to execute them with efficiency, attention to details, and work across departments successfully.
Public Art
Assist administratively with BPCA’s stewardship of its late-20th and 21st Century public art collection, including supporting the development of public and internal resources pertaining to the artists and their work. Provide administrative support to art research, documentation and procurement, invoice processing, assisting and meeting with artists, drafting policies and procedures, and researching the feasibility of potential new installations. Prepare and facilitate engaging art talks for visitors about the public art in the park.
Community Partnerships
Assist with partnerships and public engagement with community organizations (e.g., museums, libraries, performance groups, special population organizations, schools, and colleges). This will include research, procurement, and payment processing under deadlines. Responsible for preparing, attending, accurately documenting, and actively participating in meetings and site visits with the department director and independently. The meetings are with artists in various disciplines, community members of all ages and background, organization leaders and facilitators, hands-on specialists, and others as needed.

Minimum Qualifications ? Bachelor’s degree in a related field (preferred)
? 3-5 years of relevant work experience
? Strong demonstrated interest in serving the public
? Strong ability to focus on details and expedite multiple projects concurrently
? Knowledgeable about and interested in contemporary art and public art is a plus
? Current driver’s license is a plus
Additional Comments The Assistant Director of Community Partnerships and Public Art is responsible for providing critical project management, administrative, and research support to the department. This will include new projects and on-going work that links resources managed by Battery Park City Authority to constituents, including people who live, work, or go to school in the area and first-time visitors attracted by audience outreach initiatives. This role will support BPCA’s commitment to integrating the creative community within the local neighborhood and the City’s urban fabric.
