As this position requires travel, the appointee must have a valid license to operate a motor vehicle in New York State and have a motor vehicle or otherwise demonstrate their capacity to meet the transportation needs of the position.

Current Department of Labor employees only, with at least one year of permanent, contingent-permanent, or 55b/c service as a Supervising Industrial Hygienist ; if you have less than one year, you must be reachable on the current Supervising Industrial Hygienist eligible list for this location, if one exists.
52.7 Non-Competitive Promotion (NCP) Qualifications:
To be eligible for NCP, candidates must be in the Department of Labor promotion field and have one year or more of permanent, contingent-permanent or 55 b/c service as a Associate Industrial Hygienist. If 3 or fewer qualified Department of Labor Associate Industrial Hygienist respond to this posting, Civil Service may approve the permanent appointment of one of the qualified Associate Industrial Hygienist without further examination.
Note: Non-competitive refers to not competing in an examination; the appointment will be competitive.
Provisional Qualifications:
NYS Department of Labor Employees Only.
You must be a qualified employee of New York State Department of Labor and have had one year or more of permanent competitive or 55b service as an Associate Industrial Hygienist. The appointed candidate would have to take, pass and be reachable on the next holding of the examination to be appointed permanently.

Duties Description The incumbent will supervise Associate, Senior, and trainee Industrial Hygienists to ensure IH staff meet and maintain established productivity levels and goals by tracking activities. The incumbent will review IH written reports and conduct case file reviews to ensure quality of work is meeting established policies, procedures, and is technically accurate. Provide technical and administrative oversight to Industrial Hygienists. Monitors and evaluates the performance of IH staff and provides appropriate feedback, this includes performing internal case audits and performance assessments. Conduct field monitoring visits for IH staff annually and/or ensures that the field monitoring visits are conducted by Associate IH’s of their subordinates. Ensures district office operations are running efficiently and ensure staff use their time effectively. Must stay current on technical hygiene topics and effective training techniques. Provide guidance to hygiene staff on technical issues and ensure that there is standardization of hygiene procedures within the program. Ensures policies and procedures are followed by staff to ensure goals and objectives are met. Conducts on site surveys and trainings to accomplish program goals and objectives. Develop and implement policies and procedures, including sampling protocol, in compliance with new and updated standards and directives. Facilitate and answer OSHA audits/responses. Oversight over specialized teams, such as Process Safety Management.

Position specific job duties may include occasional altered work schedule or job assignments which require availability and willingness to work occasional evenings and/or out-stationed assignments.
