Duties Description The mission of our office is to ensure that our constituents in the district and all New Yorkers are provided with access to resources and are empowered in NYS through equitable and inclusive policies and practices. Our office has an immediate opening for a Constituent Liaison based in our district office.
Strong interpersonal/communication skills, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and the capacity to work on/undertake multiple projects and responsibilities simultaneously are a must. The selected candidate will work closely with senior members of our district office, as well as senior staff of other elected officials and organizations.
The Constituent Liaison position is part-time, salaried, and located in Senate District 52, in Ithaca.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Handle constituent cases and follow up with appropriate agencies to see cases through
•Act as a liaison and go to person between members of the community, local and state agencies and the Senator
•Attend community meetings and events to provide information about and promote the Senator’s initiatives to address issues and concerns
•Remain current on the Senator’s legislative and policy agenda and serve as a resource regarding those issues for the local community and colleagues
•Input information and monitor the New York State Senate Bluebird database to ensure casework is properly documented in the database in a timely manner – knowledge of the NYS Senate Bluebird database is not required
•Provide status updates to the Community Affairs Director on caseloads, community issues, events, staff concerns, scheduling issues, and any other matter that may require the team’s attention
•Collaborate with staff to address community concerns by developing and implementing strategies that utilize tools at the team’s disposal, including correspondence, communication platforms, forums, events, and meetings

Minimum Qualifications •Advanced written and verbal communication skills
•Familiarity with the district, as well as the concerns and challenges facing it residents
•Understanding of legislative policies, state laws, state grant programs, and other relevant state, local, and federal resources
•Education/degree – associates, bachelor’s or advanced degree
•Time flexibility – ability to work some weekends and evenings as necessary
•Demonstrated history of working collaboratively
•Ability to travel within the district and to and from Albany for major events is desirable
Additional Comments The salary range is $25,000 to $30,000, commensurate with education and experience.
