Duties Description The New York State Education Department’s (NYSED) Office of Adult Career and Continuing Education Services – Vocational Rehabilitation (ACCES-VR) is seeking candidates for a Support Services Assistant position in the Garden City VR District Office. The incumbent of this position will be responsible for assisting a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor. Duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Fill out forms and enter data in various computer programs;
• Assist the VRC by reading materials aloud
• Convert printed materials into electronic format;
• File including, sort, locate, return files and manipulate file folders physically;
• Learn new computer data systems, as needed;
• Escort visitors;
• Deliver files and worksheets;
• Answer phone calls, take messages and connect or forward callers; and
• Interact with IT staff to resolve technical issues including wire checks, remove paper jams, and replace toner cartridges;
Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must have either a high school diploma OR a High School Equivalency diploma.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Special consideration will be given to candidates who have experience working in a clerical office setting preferred but not required.
Additional Comments CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: This will be a temporary appointment. Promotions and transfers may change appointees’ negotiating unit. Candidates should be aware that changes in negotiating units may affect their salary, insurance, and other benefits. This appointment is contingent upon the continued employment of the Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor to whom assistance is being provided.
Based on this position’s location, in addition to the listed base salary, this position also receives a $ $3,400 Downstate Adjustment.
