Duties Description The Office of the New York State Attorney General (OAG) is recognized as a national leader in civil rights, investor protection, labor rights, personal privacy, public safety, and criminal law enforcement. The OAG is responsible for defending the State in litigation, engages in affirmative civil and criminal investigations and litigation, and serves as the chief guardian of the legal rights of the citizens of New York, its businesses, and its natural resources. The Information Technology Bureau has the unique responsibility of supporting the OAG as the People’s Lawyer in its many and varied initiatives, multiple locations, and numerous platforms. The Office of the Attorney General (OAG) is seeking an Information Technology Specialist 4 to lead our Web Team. Following the successful modernization of our external website, the incumbent will play a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing the site's technical framework and content, as well as play a key role on the modernization project for our intranet. Responsibilities include ensuring both the external website and the intranet remain up-to-date with the latest web standards, optimizing for desktop and mobile experience compatibility, maximizing security/availability of our sites and adhering to accessibility guidelines. The specialist will also focus on leveraging social media integration, search engine optimization (SEO), and analytics for the external site, while ensuring the intranet meets the evolving needs of our internal stakeholders. This position requires a proactive approach to monitor emerging web technologies and content trends, ensuring our digital platforms continuously reflect the OAG's commitment to innovation, accessibility, and internal collaboration.
DUTIES:
• Maintain, update & create NYS OAG Intra/Internet site.
• Write well designed, testable, efficient code by using best software development practices.
• Gather and refine specifications and requirements based on technical needs.
• Gather new and updated information for websites.
• Design & Build web pages.
• Test website.
• Performance testing.
• Deploy website to production.
• Supervise subordinate staff including contract employees.
• Coordinate with vendors and hosting providers.
• Identify budgetary requirements to support the web infrastructure.
Minimum Qualifications Reachable on the Civil Service list for the ITS 4 title OR one year of permanent competitive service as an Information Technology Specialist 4 OR in a position at SG-23 or higher deemed administrative under Section 52.6 of Civil Service Law OR in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of Civil Service Law.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Proven experience in web programming.
• 4+ years of experience managing and developing Drupal 9+, JavaScript, HTML.
• Experience with forms and regular expression validation and submitting data.
• Testing and Debugging skills.
• Maintenance of production websites (externally and/or internally hosted).
• Exceptional Communication Skills.
• Supervisory experience including coaching and training subordinate staff to transfer knowledge and skills to all levels.
• Strong organizational skills to juggle multiple tasks within the constraints of timelines.
• Ability to work and thrive in a fast-paced environment, learn rapidly and master diverse web technologies and techniques.
• A solid understanding of how web applications work including security, session management, and development best practices.
• Excellent presentation skills.
• Ability to work independently and provide timely communications.
• Experience in web page design and editing, including responsive design.
• Project Management skills.
• Expert in all Microsoft Office applications.
• Working and leading in Team environment and ability to promote collaboration.
