Duties Description The Office of the New York State Attorney General (OAG) is recognized as a national leader in civil rights, investor protection, labor rights, personal privacy, public safety, and criminal law enforcement. The OAG is responsible for defending the State in litigation, engages in affirmative civil and criminal investigations and litigation, and serves as the chief guardian of the legal rights of the citizens of New York, its businesses, and its natural resources. The Information Technology Bureau has the unique responsibility of supporting the OAG as the People’s Lawyer in its many and varied initiatives, multiple locations, and numerous platforms. This position will report into the Infrastructure and Operations section for the (OAG) Information Technology Bureau and oversee its growing cloud environment. The candidate will lead the Cloud Operations team and will help guide the agency’s existing and future cloud implementations. The individual will provide guidance and expertise in assisting with data, infrastructure and security governance within Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS). The person will ensure the reliability and best practices for all cloud based: data services, virtual computing, storage, backup and disaster recovery infrastructure, security protocols, access management, fiscal management, and more in a hybrid cloud setting. Responsibilities include ensuring the continuous health and availability of all cloud network resources, hardware and underlying architecture that support critical IT services. This position requires a thorough understanding of complex business structures and processes, best practices for appropriate enterprise architectures, network infrastructure and information governance approaches.

DUTIES:
• Architect services that run on Azure and OCI by providing technical expertise and guidance in cloud technologies.
• Work with teams to champion cloud services and how they can enable the business to run more efficiently using Azure or OCI.
• Lead and coordinate migrations from on-premise deployments to a public government cloud environment.
• Work with System Architect and Application Development teams to develop standardized and best practice approaches for cloud-based applications.
• Develop models and plans for the implementation of cloud strategies and take advantage of opportunities to improve business performance.
• Implement cloud availability and performance monitoring for OAG resources
• Work with other IT teams on system analysis and application architecture for major IT cloud initiatives.
• Work with Chief Information Security Officer on security system analysis and security architecture for major cloud initiatives.
• Work with other IT teams to establish, design and support an enterprise cloud architecture that provides required capacity plans and supports the long-term strategic goals of the OAG.
• Implement Azure/OCI cloud technology policies and procedures for disaster recovery and archiving to ensure effective protection and integrity of storage and stored data assets.
• Perform the full range of supervisory duties. Perform Annual & Semi-Annual performance evaluations for subordinates.
• Perform team skill assessment, gap analysis, and execute positive change through appropriate management and mentorship.
• Develop procedures, standards and internal controls for the conduct of work within the IT Cloud Operations team.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation regarding cloud configurations and operating procedures.

Minimum Qualifications Reachable on the Information Technology Specialist 4 Civil Service list OR one year of permanent competitive service as an Information Technology Specialist 4 OR in a position at SG-23 or higher deemed administrative under Section 52.6 of Civil Service Law OR in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of Civil Service Law.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• 4+ years in-depth technical knowledge and experience working with cloud networking, storage, backups, services, etc.
• 3+ years experience with large scale cloud and hybrid architectures, including migrating on-premise applications to cloud or building cloud native services.
• 3+ years experience in Enterprise/Solution/Technical architecture across multiple technologies and domains.
• 3+ years experience in architecting cloud infrastructure and PaaS services (firewalls, VMs, storage accounts, backup/recovery, application gateways, load balancers, database offerings, API management service, etc.).
• 3+ years experience with large scale, complex enterprise integration systems in a highly available and high-volume environment.
• 3+ years integrating Azure or OCI with other cloud systems.
• 2+ years experience with Office 365 tenant architecture, administration and support.
• Experience as a Windows or Linux System Administrator.
• Strong understanding of DevOps practices and Infrastructure as code.
• Experience with automation through Ansible, Terraform or other similar products.
