Duties Description As a Mental Hygiene Therapy Assistant 1, you are part of a treatment team and duties will include:

• Assisting in the development of treatment plans
• Supervising and monitoring the implementation of treatment plans and activities
• Observing and documenting individual behaviors and responses to treatment
• Scheduling staff assignments
• Providing staff training

Minimum Qualifications South Beach Psychiatric Center is recruiting for a Mental Hygiene Therapy Assistant 1 to supervise Mental Health Therapy Aides providing direct care services to individual diagnosed with mental illness. Candidates from outside or within State Service can apply.

Minimum Qualifications:

Candidates from outside or within State Service can be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement – Statewide (NY HELPS) as a Mental Hygiene Therapy Assistant 1 if they have:
• High School or High School equivalency diploma and
• 1 year of direct patient care experience working with individuals diagnosed with mental illness or with emotional or social behavior problems.

OR

Candidates within State Service can be considered for a competitive class appointment if they have 1 year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.

Please Note: After 2 years of satisfactory experience as a Mental Hygiene Therapy Assistant 1, you will advance to the Mental Hygiene Therapy Assistant 2, SG-13, without further examination.
