Duties Description ASSIGNMENT: This position is assigned to the Division of Labor Relations. Duties include, but are not limited to: drafting correspondence related to employee relations inquiries; researching and analyzing labor relations legal issues, preparing confidential reports, memoranda, affidavits, grievance decisions, briefs for administrative and arbitration proceedings and other documents; representing the Unified Court System in employee relations proceedings before administrative bodies and arbitrators and participating in collective negotiations, grievance review meetings and other administrative proceedings.

Minimum Qualifications POSITION TITLE: Principal Employee Relations Attorney JG: 31

BASE SALARY: $ 126,278 + $4,775 Location Pay

QUALIFICATIONS: One year in the Associate Employee Relations Attorney title; or Admission to the New York State Bar and five (5) years of legal experience; or Admission to the New York State Bar and six (6) years of labor relations experience (all, or a portion thereof, may have been obtained prior to bar admission);or Admission to the New York State Bar and an equivalent combination of education and legal or labor relations experience.

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF WORK: With substantial independence from supervision, Principal Employee Relations Attorneys are responsible to the Director of the Office of Court Administration's (OCA's) Division of Labor Relations for organizing research of issues relating to collective negotiations and agreements, grievances, fact findings and arbitration proceedings, litigation before the Public Employment Relations Board, and performing other duties related to the interaction between the Unified Court System and its unionized employees. Principal Employee Relations Attorneys may also be required to research and interpret public sector labor law, arbitration awards, and administrative and court decisions, and to assist the Director in selecting and training new staff, developing and implementing policies and procedures, and in handling day-to-day administrative matters.

POSITION TITLE: Associate Employee Relations Attorney JG: 28

BASE SALARY: $ 107,629 + $4,775 Location Pay

QUALIFICATIONS: One year in the Senior Employee Relations Attorney title; or Admission to the New York State Bar and three (3) years of legal experience; or Admission to the New York State Bar and five (5) years of labor relations experience (all, or a portion thereof, may have been obtained prior to bar admission); or Admission to the New York State Bar and an equivalent combination of education and legal or labor relations experience.

Employee Relations Attorneys may also be required to research and interpret public sector labor law, arbitration awards, and administrative and court decisions.
