Duties Description Reporting to the Director of the Center for Student Leadership and Involvement (CSLI), the Assistant Director is responsible for developing innovative programming for a diverse student population. This professional works collaboratively with faculty, staff and various departments and college constituencies to engage students outside of the classroom to enhance the college experience through student engagement, leadership development opportunities and programming to serve the campus community.

Essential Duties:

This position is responsible for commuter outreach, leadership development programs, civic and community engagement programs, departmental social media and publications, and various campus-committee service opportunities. The incumbent designs and successfully implements an extensive outreach program to the commuter student population and oversees student interns and student staff to assist with commuter outreach.

This position provides an assessment and data analysis of student engagement, satisfaction and review of services offered and needed by these student populations; and makes recommendations for improved and increased services.

The Assistant Director coordinates and is responsible for specific aspects of programming and student engagement, including but not limited to:

Research best practices for high-retention programs and activities to aid in designing programs and retaining students.
Design, develop and implement an extensive outreach program to the commuter student population, including Fall and Spring Commuter Appreciation Week and monthly series programming, as well as oversee student interns and a student staff to assist with commuter outreach.
Design, implement and assess the efficacy of a Commuter Assistant Program, in accordance with best practices and national standards, to increase the retention of commuter students and student engagement.
Serve as primary advisor to the Commuter Student Association.
Oversee the execution of three distinct leadership programs through design, implementation, and evaluation aligned with theoretical leadership development approaches.
Facilitate workshops, seminars, and retreats developing leadership competencies and personal growth in collaboration with other departments and campus partners to support student development and engagement.
Review departmental publications and advertising to ensure compliance with budget and the Colleges' standards for external communications and the objective to increase student engagement.
Prepare initial planning of opening event calendars for Fall/Spring and assist in the overall implementation and management events throughout the academic and calendar year.
Collaborate with the Office of Residential Life in the development and implementation of weekend and campus-wide events/programming initiatives to enhance the college experience and student engagement.
Assist in general oversight of student programming and events, including off-campus travel, building coverage; and late-night programming to engage students outside of the classroom to enhance overall collegiate experience.
Collaborate with faculty and various campus departments to increase outreach to targeted student populations to foster student campus engagement including late-night and weekend programs.
Create and implement promotion of college-wide and student-sponsored events and other information via college and department-sponsored social media outlets and online platform Panther Connect.
Counsel students regarding policies and procedures related to student organization-sponsored events and programs and assist with event oversight and office operations in the absence of the Director.

Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:

A minimum of a Master's degree in Higher Education or related field.
A minimum of three (3) years of progressive, professional, full-time experience in higher education.
Ability to work well under pressure, take initiative, and follow-through on multiple tasks while maintaining a high degree of accuracy, speed and poise.
Must be organized and able to advance multiple priorities simultaneously and take initiative, work creatively and collaboratively.
Excellent communication, and leadership skills, ability to give presentations either to an individual or groups.
Thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Multicultural competence and a demonstrated commitment to diversity in all forms.
The candidate must be available to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and occasional weekend hours. This position will work one evening shift per week.

Preferred Qualifications:

A minimum of three (3) years of progressive, professional, full-time experience in student affairs.
Demonstrated presentation experience.
Demonstrated experience planning and overseeing large-scale events.

Additional Comments Salary: $50,000.00 - $55,000.00 (plus location pay $3,400.00) commensurate with education and experience
