Duties Description Teachers 2, 3, and 4, under general supervision and with considerable independence of judgment and action, teach elementary, secondary, or special subjects. The duties include preparing course and unit outlines, lesson plans, educational progress reports, individual education plans, and acting as advisor to student groups and organizations.
Requirements for Continued Employment: Possession of a permanent/professional or provisional/ initial New York State certificate in Students with Disabilities/Special Education is necessary for continued employment. Loss of certification will result in termination of employment.
Medicaid/Medicare Requirements:
In order to be eligible for appointment and to maintain employment, you cannot be listed as an excluded individual or entity on any of the Federal and/or State Medicaid and Medicare exclusion lists (or excluded from any other Federal or Federally assisted program). If you are appointed and subsequently listed as an excluded individual or entity on any of these lists (or excluded from any other Federal or Federally-assisted program), you may be terminated from your employment.
Minimum Qualifications Possess the appropriate certification necessary for appointment.
For Teacher 2: Current New York State Education Department provisional/initial certification in classroom teaching in the appropriate specialty.
For Teacher 3: Current New York State Education Department permanent/professional certification in classroom teaching in the appropriate specialty.
For Teacher 4: Current New York State Education Department permanent/professional certification in classroom teaching in the appropriate specialty AND two years of post-certification (provisional/initial or permanent/professional) teaching experience in that same specialty.

1) There will be no written test. Applicants will be required to complete a certification and experience questionnaire online. The online questionnaire is the test.

3) Applicants must apply for examination(s) in the appropriate specialty for their certification(s).

Additional Comments:
This position is eligible for a Downstate Adjustment of $3,400.
