Salary RangeFrom $64748 to $76370 Annually
Duties Description Oversee the activities of skilled trades, semi-skilled, and unskilled positions engaged in maintenance repair, rehabilitation and construction activities of the state facilities. Supervises the maintenance program for an agency, facility or region; direct projects involving 4 or 6 building and construction trades; oversees at least 15 subordinates, including journey level tradespersons; and manages a moderate number of maintenance contracts.
Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualifications for taking the Promotional Examination: must be a qualified employee of New York State and have had 45 days of permanent competitive, non-competitive, or 55-b/55-c service as:
Either A. Maintenance Supervisor 1, Maintenance Supervisor 1 (Building), Maintenance Supervisor 1 (Electronic Equipment), Maintenance Supervisor 1 (Fish Hatchery), Maintenance Supervisor 1 (Motor Equipment), Maintenance Supervisor 1 (Toll Equipment), Park Supervisor 2, Plant Utilities Engineer 1, Plant Utilities Engineer 2, Public Buildings Manager 1, Trades Supervisor (Sign Fabrication), Trades Supervisor (Painter), Trades Supervisor (Electrician), Trades Supervisor (Mason & Plasterer), Trades Supervisor (Painter), Trades Supervisor (Plumber & Steamfitter), Supervisor General Services Grounds Operations and Horticulture 1, Maintenance Supervisor 1 (Marine Equipment), or Bridge Repair Supervisor 1;
OR B. Trades Specialist (Carpenter), Trades Specialist (Electrician), Service & Repair Mechanic (Electronics), Trades Generalist, General Mechanic Trades Training Program, Grounds Construction Supervisor, Head Grounds Supervisor, Head Janitor, Trades Specialist (Locksmith), Trades Specialist (Machinist), Trades Specialist (Mason & Plasterer), Service & Repair Mechanic (Motor Equipment), Trades Specialist (Painter), Park Sanitation Superintendent, Park Supervisor 1, Trades Specialist (lumber & Steamfitter), Plumber and Steamfitter Trades Training Program, Service & Repair Mechanic (HVAC-R), Trades Specialist (Roofing), Senior Filter Plant Operator, Supervisor Grounds, Vocational Instructor (all levels*), Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator 3, Trades Specialist (Upholstery), Trades Specialist (Sign Fabrication), Service & Repair Mechanic (Auto Body), Service & Repair Mechanic (Laboratory), Service & Repair Mechanic (Corcraft), or Park Supervisor 1 (Marine Services).
*Certified in and teaching the following programs (some of these programs have been renamed and would be appropriate under either the old or new name): Air Conditioning and Refrigeration/Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration, Carpentry, Electrical/Electronic Trades, Electrical/Electronic Occupations, Machine Shop/Machine Tool Operations-Machine Shop, Masonry, Painting and Decoration/Residential-Commercial Building Maintenance and Remodeling, Plumbing, Sheet Metal, and Welding/Welding and Fabrication
Qualifying Experience for Appointment from the Eligible List: After one year of the service described above.
Minimum Qualifications for taking the Open Competitive Examination: two years of experience supervising other workers in any of the areas listed below:
Either 1. maintenance and operation of a physical plant;
Or 2. building construction;
Or 3. building renovation and/or repair projects.
