Duties Description The New York State Department of Financial Services seeks to build an equitable, transparent, and resilient financial system that benefits individuals and supports business. The Department of Financial Services is seeking candidates for the position of Information Technology Specialist 3 in the Technology Bureau. Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Leads and manages a small operations team, providing direction and support to ensure high performance;
• Oversees the implementation, maintenance, support and improvement of technical systems and infrastructure including Active Directory, servers, or network components;
• Develops and enforces technical standards and procedures to ensure service reliability and security;
• Monitors and analyzes operational performance metrics to identify areas for improvement;
• Coordinates with other departments to ensure technical support for business operations;
• Continuously evaluates and improves technical processes and workflows to enhance operational efficiency;
• Implements best practices in technical operations and ensure compliance with industry standards;
• Manages relationships with external vendors and service providers; and
• Fosters a culture of continuous learning and professional development within the team.
Minimum Qualifications Preferred Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience in technical operations management, including managing Service Support, Active Directory, servers, or network infrastructure
• Strong technical knowledge, excellent problem-solving abilities, and effective communication skills.

List Appointment: Candidates must be reachable on the Civil Service eligible list for 268390-10 or 387090-10.
Transfer: Candidates must have one year of permanent competitive service in a title eligible for transfer via Sections 70.1 or 52.6 of the Civil Service Law. Information regarding transfer eligibility may be available on the Civil Service Career Mobility Office website at http://careermobilityoffice.cs.ny.gov/cmo/.
Please Note that under Civil Service Law, an employee cannot have two consecutive upward 70.1 or 52.6 transfers without an intervening eligible list appointment if such transfers would exceed two salary grades.
