Duties Description The Trades Generalist will be required to provide and accomplish technical and trade specific maintenance, construction, and restoration services such as electrical, carpentry and plumbing for the regional office campus.
This position will manage our HVAC system, fire and security systems, elevator service and various other contractual services, perform and oversee all interior and exterior maintenance and restoration duties for our buildings and infrastructures, groundskeeping, snow and ice removal, daily service requests, schedule and perform preventive maintenance, trouble shoot and service our buildings automation systems, focus on energy management improvements, direct communication and coordination with outside contractors and vendors, maintain mechanical equipment, perform emergency maintenance and repair services.
Will be required to execute procurement of supplies and materials purchased from vendors under state contract, as well as utilizing preferred sources as required. Obtain quotes for various projects and prepare purchase requisitions while following department guidelines and policies. May be required to administer and manage contracts with outside vendors. Track supplies, materials and equipment to ensure they are used properly. Responsible for performing various administrative duties and accurate and timely submission of schedules, reports and work orders.
May be required to oversee subordinate staff and provide instructions on project tasks and priorities, work schedules, equipment needs and health and safety issues. Must be willing and able to plan and lay out construction, maintenance, and repair projects to be completed by department staff and/or by contract.
Minimum Qualifications Four years of full-time experience in a trade under a skilled tradesperson which would provide training equivalent to that given in a training, apprenticeship, or equivalent program; or an equivalent combination of experience and training gained by completion of technical courses in skilled trades at a school, institute, or branch of the Armed Services. When required to operate motor vehicles, candidates must possess a valid New York State driver's license appropriate for the type of vehicle to be operated.
Additional Comments This is a hourly appointment currently funded through 11/30/2025, with a likelihood of continuing beyond that date. Program needs and funding will determine actual termination date.

Must have a valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position.
Use of personal protection equipment, including a respirator, will be required.
Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain.

Travel may be required.
Overtime may be required.
Overnight travel may be required.
Weekends and holidays may be required.
Must be available for emergency response.
Must be available to respond to after-hours emergencies.
Must be able to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds.
