Duties Description Act as Empire State Plaza Ice Rink Manager. Advise on program policy and development as related to the ice rink facility. Manage ice rink personnel and administration including hiring, scheduling, supervision, and day to day operations, November - March.
Duties will include, but not be limited to the following:
• Open and close skate rental facility.
• Collect skate rental fees by accepting cash or credit card payments from customers; make change for cash customers.
• Balance cash drawer by counting cash at beginning and end of work shift.
• Assist customers with skate sizes.
• Maintain daily inventory of rental skates.
• Inspect rental skates to ensure there is no apparent damage.
• Operate skate sharpening machines (training provided).
• Provide information about facilities, skate rink events, and rules and regulations.
• Assist in maintaining clean conditions within the skate rental facility.
• Ensure safe skating is maintained at the ice rink.
• Light custodial duties.
Operating Needs:
• Excellent customer service skills and communication skills.
• Ability to supervise a team and work independently.
• Experience in a cash-handling position.
• Skating ability preferred but not mandated.
Ability to work a flexible schedule which includes evenings, Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. Overtime may be required on occasion.
Minimum Qualifications Four years of experience involved with coordinating and/or scheduling events in a hotel, conference facility, sports arena, cultural institution or entertainment venue. Experience may include scheduling multi-event facility usage; coordinating equipment and support services; public relations; or sales and marketing events.
Substitution: A bachelor’s degree substitutes for three years; associate’s degree for two years.
