Duties Description Rockland Psychiatric Center (RPC), an Office of Mental Health (OMH) Joint Commission accredited facility, is recruiting Board Certified or Board Eligible Psychiatrists for their outpatient clinics and ACT Teams. Outpatient clinics are located in Mount Vernon, White Plains, Peekskill, Putnam, Dutchess, Newburgh, and Middletown; ACT Teams are located in Orange and Dutchess Counties.

Psychiatrists at RPC are part of a multi-disciplinary team that provides comprehensive, patient-centered, and holistic team-based care to individuals with mental illness 18 year of age or older; including:

• Conducting comprehensive psychiatric assessments and evaluations
• Creating treatment plans including medication management and psychotherapy
• Managing caseloads of 8- 15 patients daily
• Testifying in court hearings for Assisted Outpatient Treatment and orders of Conditions for Insanity Acquitees.

Minimum Qualifications Psychiatrist 1: License and current registration to practice medicine in New York State, and completion of a training program in psychiatry approved by the ABPN.

Psychiatrist 2: License and current registration to practice medicine in New York State, and certification in psychiatry approved by the ABPN.


*Limited permit option: If you are licensed in another state or by written examination in Canada, AND meet the other requirements for Psychiatrist 1 or 2, you are also eligible if you have a current limited permit to practice medicine in New York State. If appointed, you must obtain your license within one year of the date your limited was issued. Failure to do so will result in removal from your position.

Transfer Opportunity - Candidates must have one year of permanent service as a Psychiatrist 1 or Psychiatrist 2 or Psychiatrist (Children and Youth) to be eligible for lateral transfer.

3. Continued employment as a Psychiatrist 1 or Psychiatrist 2 is dependent upon current licensure to practice medicine and in the case of Psychiatrist 1 or Psychiatrist 2, current certification in child and adolescent psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Loss of licensure and certification may result in removal from this position.
