Duties Description Prepare high-quality food items by following standardized recipes and instructions to ensure that production, delivery, and service schedules are met. • Serve meals or prepare them for delivery, ensuring correct portioning, adhering to established standards, and making sure that the food is at the correct temperature, appealing, and delicious. Taste all prepared food items and follow established ticket collection procedures during service. The cook is responsible for keeping records from the areas they work in during service periods. • Clean the kitchen after preparation and serving; maintain high standards of cleanliness. Store or discard excess food in accordance with safe food-handling procedures. • Keep refrigerators and storerooms clean and neat. Ensure that food and supply items are stored according to established standards. • Operate and maintain kitchen equipment as instructed. • Assist in production planning, record keeping and reporting, as required. • Assist in the ordering and receiving of all food and supplies as required. • Immediately report any needed maintenance, faulty equipment, or accidents to the supervisor. • Attend in-service and safety meetings. • Maintain good working relationships with coworkers, customers, administrators and managers. • Perform the job safely while maintaining a clean, safe work environment. • Perform other duties as assigned. • Ensure proper presentation, portion control and maintenance of serving temperatures; follow HACCP standards. • Personal commitment to own safety and that of others. • Abide by all state policies and procedures, including but not limited to: • The use of medium weight cut gloves when handling or using knives, peelers, choppers, mandolins or cleaning a slicer. • The use of oven mitts, fryer gloves or steamer gloves when handling hot pans from ovens, warmers or steam tables. • The use of slip-resistant shoes and proper lifting techniques.
Minimum Qualifications Non-competitive: three years of experience in large-scale cooking
Additional Comments Work week Tuesday to Saturday off on Sunday and Monday
One permanent, non-competitive, full-time appointment.
The posted salary range ($51,695 - $62,447) includes $4,000 of Downstate Adjustment.
