Duties Description The Biologist 2 (Ecology) oversees the on-the-ground conservation activities throughout the district, including the long-term management of natural environments and the integration of environmental considerations into facility management. The Biologist 2 (Ecology) will be responsible for planning and implementing small- to large-scale environmental projects throughout the district, as well as the incorporation of environmental considerations into capital projects. They directly supervise the Environmental Stewardship Biologists and other stewardship staff.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
• Assists in development of district-based environmental priorities, including priority conservation targets and threats.
• Provides oversight and supervises the work of the Environmental Stewardship Biologists and other stewardship staff.
• Provides administrative and technical direction for planning, design, construction, and monitoring of large-scale environmental stewardship projects.
• Provides oversight in the preparation, bidding, award, and administration of environmental contracts.
• Prepares and manages an environmental project budget and ensures priorities and budget plans are implemented and followed.
• Performs administrative functions related to funding, staffing, and other responsibilities.
• Assists in the prioritization, development, and review of facility stewardship plans.
• Determines programmatic needs for place-based guidance and collaborates with other program areas to develop and implement best practices and strategies.
• Develops relationships and facilitates communication with regional managers in various program areas to address environmental needs.

• Conducts outreach to resource agencies, such as state agencies, non-governmental organizations, and private sector partners to gather up-to-date information and build partnerships so stewardship efforts can be informed and supported.
• Ensures compliance with environmental laws and regulations.
Minimum Qualifications Eligible List Appointment:
Candidates must be qualified for permanent competitive appointment if reachable on the Biologist 2 (Ecology) eligible list.
70.1 Transfer Qualifications:
One year of permanent, competitive service as a Biologist 2 (Wildlife), Biologist 2 (Aquatic), Biologist 2 (Marine), Biologist 2 (Ecology), or Environmental Program Specialist 2 (Natural Resources).
