Duties Description The Offices of the Inspector General (“OIG”) are comprised of three offices, derived from the three appointments held by Inspector General Lucy Lang:
• The Office of the New York State Inspector General (“NYSIG”), as established by Executive Law Article 4-A, is entrusted with the responsibility of receiving and investigating complaints of fraud, corruption, criminal activity, conflicts of interest, and abuse in executive branch agencies of New York State government. Since June 2021, this includes complaints related to the New York State Gaming Commission.
• The Office of the New York State Welfare Inspector General (“OWIG”), as established by section 74 of the Executive Law, is responsible for maintaining the integrity of New York State’s public assistance programs; and
• The Office of the New York State Workers’ Compensation Fraud Inspector General (“WCFIG”), as established by section 136 of the Workers’ Compensation Law, is responsible for investigating violations of the laws and regulations pertaining to the operation of the workers’ compensation system.
OIG has office locations in Albany, Buffalo, Hauppauge, New York City, Suffern, and Syracuse.
Job Description
OIG conducts in-depth investigations and analysis of alleged fraud, abuse, corruption, conflicts of interest, and other criminal activity in New York State agencies and entities under its jurisdiction. We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive administrative professional to support our Hiring & Human Resources Department as Coordinator. This role involves assisting with a wide range of Hiring & Human Resources processes, including handling sensitive information, and serving as a point of contact for both internal and external communications.
This position is an excellent opportunity for candidates to enter New York State service and build a strong working knowledge of a wide array of state agencies and authorities.
Key Responsibilities:
Responsibilities of the Hiring & Human Resources Coordinator include, but are not limited to:
• Providing general administrative support to the Special Deputy Inspector General for Hiring & Human Resources and the Deputy Director of Hiring and HR, including scheduling meetings, organizing files, and managing calendars.
• Tracking and processing resumes, application documents, and hiring paperwork, and onboarding forms for agency candidates.
• Preparing and editing Hiring & Human Resources related documents such as recruitment materials and performance review templates.
• Maintaining and updating employee records and Hiring & Human Resources databases in compliance with confidentiality and data protection regulations.
Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualifications
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Strong and professional interpersonal abilities for effective engagement with the public, colleagues, and local, state, and federal law enforcement partners.
• Sound judgment and an ability to handle sensitive material with strict adherence to confidentiality.
• Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision, handle multiple assignments, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines while maintaining attention to detail.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel and aptitude with new computer programs, including proprietary applications and law enforcement databases.
• A work-related familiarity with New York State government, its agencies, and laws, and/or prior experience in the human resources sector, is highly valued, but not required.
• New York State residency and a valid drivers license are required.

This is a Management Confidential position appointed by the Inspector General with an approved salary range of $56,655 - $70,869 (Grade 14 equivalent), within which OIG seeks to hire, commensurate with experience.
