Duties Description Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Manage medium-sized and fairly complex new building construction projects and the rehabilitation and renovation projects for NYS Facilities.
• Assist higher level staff in managing more complex building construction projects; as well as manage and monitor consultant contracts, manage the request for design, construction, and professional services from other state agencies.
• Full range of supervisor duties.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Operational Needs:
• Travel may be required (approximately 50%).
• Possession and maintenance of a valid Driver’s License issued by the NYS Department of Motor Vehicle is required, or otherwise demonstrate the capacity to meet the transportation needs of the job.
Minimum Qualifications This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS)* and applicants must meet the following minimum qualifications to be considered for this position:
Seven years of experience in multi-trade building construction that must include at least two years of managing multiple building construction projects. Experience managing multi-trade building construction projects shall include responsibility for three or more of the following areas:
• Construction planning
• Coordination of multiple trades
• Cost estimating
• Project scheduling
• Material purchasing
• Resource management (including labor, material, and equipment scheduling)
• Construction document reading and interpretation (e.g. plans and specifications)
Substitution: Associate's degree in engineering, architecture, landscape architecture, engineering technology, construction technology, building science, or architectural technology may substitute for two years of the general experience. Bachelor's degree in the above fields may substitute for four years of the general experience.

Applicants may be appointed to this position if currently reachable on the appropriate eligible list for this title OR are a current New York State employee with one year or more of qualifying permanent service in as a Facilities Planner 2 and eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.
NOTE: IN ORDER TO AWARD THE PROPER CREDIT FOR WORK EXPERIENCE, RESUMES MUST INCLUDE MONTH AND YEAR FOR START AND END DATES. IF ANY OF THIS EXPERIENCE IS LESS THAN FULL TIME YOU MUST INDICATE THE AVERAGE NUMBER OF HOURS WORKED PER WEEK.
Additional Comments *There is no examination required for appointment to a NY HELPS position. Candidates hired via NY HELPS will be appointed on a permanent non-competitive basis and will begin a probationary period.
At a future date (within one year of permanent appointment), it is expected that NY HELPS employees will have their non-competitive employment status converted to competitive status, without having to take an exam. Employees will then be afforded with all the same rights and privileges of competitive class employees of New York State. While serving permanently in a NY HELPS title, employees may take part in any promotion examination for which they are qualified.

This position is graded and offers a salary range from the hiring rate to the job rate for its designated grade. All hires begin at “Start Rate” unless prior state experience affords eligibility for hiring step increase as determined by OSC.
Mid-Hudson: Location Pay of $2,000.
