Duties Description • This position resides on the Cloud Administration & Support team in the Bureau of Software Platforms within the Chief Information Office.
• Support multiple cloud services including Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), Software as a Service (SaaS), and Azure Active Directory.
• Continually look for ways to modernize and drive innovation using cloud products.
• Plan, evaluate, maintain, and improve cloud systems, procedures, and policies that enable and encourage optimum performance.
• Collaborate to create new, and ensure adherence to, existing internal controls, standards, guidelines, policies, and procedures.
• Stay current on evolving cloud technologies through training, workshops and webinars.
• Collaborate and actively participate with other Chief Information Office (CIO) teams on problem resolution.
• Review the Cloud Administration & Support (CAST) budget to ensure funding is accounted for and available for current and future initiatives.
• Identify risks and propose potential remediation solutions to team management.
• Assist with developing and/or periodically reviewing and updating disaster recovery plans.
• Monitor assets, procurements, and maintenance renewals/agreements.
• Lead and direct team members to provide support to both internal CIO and the Office of the State Comptroller (OSC) customers as well as external guest users. This includes defining work activities, allocating and scheduling resources, and assisting with the implementation and administration of software hosted by OSC.
• Lead CAST projects including organizing and facilitating project meetings with other CIO teams and vendors.
• Assist in maintaining the CAST budgeting and cost management reporting for cloud environments.
• Provide oversight and direction to employees in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures.
• Assign work to employees, monitor project progress, and make recommendations.
• Assist in the development of an employee-oriented culture that emphasizes quality, continuous improvement, key employee retention and development, and high performance.
• Oversee employee lifecycle tasks such as interviewing, hiring, performance evaluations/plans, training, and mentoring.
• Address insufficient employee performance through counseling and seek disciplinary actions where appropriate.
• Provide constructive, tactful, and objective feedback on issues, tasks, and observations.
• Communicate organization and team information through team meetings, one-on-one meetings, and other appropriate communication channels.
• Communicate regularly with other team managers and other supervisors.
• Exercise discretion and confidentiality.
• Employ active listening and provide timely responses to customers, management, colleagues, and teams.
Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
You must be currently reachable on the appropriate eligible list for this title or eligible to transfer to this title under Section 52.6 and/or 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.
Transfer Options:
For 52.6 and/or 70.1 transfer to an Information Technology Specialist 4, salary grade (SG)-25, you must have one year of permanent competitive, or 55-b/55-c service in an approved title for transfer allocated to an SG-23 or above.

Appointments via transfer must not result in a second, consecutive transfer with an advancement of more than two S-grades or one M-grade.

• Demonstrated experience in Technical Writing (2 years to 5 years).
• Demonstrated experience in Systems Management (2 years to 5 years).
• Demonstrated experience with recruitment and procurement activities.
• Demonstrated experience in both written and verbal communication of information to stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

Telecommuting: The Office of the New York State Comptroller (OSC) supports telecommuting where it is reasonable to do so based upon the agency’s mission and operational needs. Generally, employees new to OSC will be restricted from telecommuting for at least 8 calendar weeks. After the initial 8 calendar week restriction, if an employee’s primary residence location, duties, and work performance are aligned with telecommuting and operational needs they may be allowed to do so. Generally, OSC employees may telecommute up to 5 days per pay period but may be approved to telecommute less
