Duties Description - Assist fish culturists in daily fish care at the hatchery.
- Load trucks for stocking and transfers.
- Conduct fish inventory.
- Perform general facility maintenance.
- Communicate regularly with the public at the hatchery and during stocking trips.
- Assist with volunteer and public outreach events.
- Manage and maintain equipment.
Minimum Qualifications There are no education or experience qualifications for this class.
Applicants must be physically able to perform the tasks of the position and be
able to understand and carry out written or oral instructions. When required to
operate motor vehicles, incumbents must possess a valid New York State
driver's license appropriate for the type of vehicle being operated.
Additional Comments This is a seasonal, hourly appointment with an anticipated end date of 11/30/2025. Program needs and funding will determine actual termination date.
Must have a valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position.
Use of personal protection equipment, including a respirator, will be required.
Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain.
Must be able to work in remote areas.
Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions.
Travel may be required.
Weekends and holidays may be required.
Must be able to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds.
