Duties Description The Professional Engineer 2 (Civil/Transportation) will work as the Bureau Director of Design Support Services (DDSS) and will be responsible for the administration and technical supervision of the duties performed by the Engineering Quality Assurance Unit, the Survey/Right-Of-Way Tech Support Unit, and the Utility & Railroad Agreements Unit. These units support, and provide critical technical expertise to the Highway, and Structural Design Bureaus with the primary objective of providing quality assurance and quality control for the Department of Engineering’s on-time delivery of the Annual Contracts (letting) Program.

Duties will include but are not limited to the following:
• Meet regularly with internal Capital Project development stakeholders to review project support needs and status of ongoing support activities to identify and resolve delivery issues; and to maintain open communication between other offices and the Design Support Services Bureau (DDSB).
• Develop and maintain a staffing plan and level of consultant utilization allowing DSSB to maintain office capabilities and timely provision of services.
• Oversee development, issuance, and maintenance of the comprehensive engineering and architectural design policies which direct the administration of the Capital Program project development process and define applicable design standards, utility engineering standards, cost engineering analysis, and survey and mapping processes.
• Coordinate with Engineering Department managers to implement standards, policies, and procedures within respective areas of responsibility, and which are developed within capital project scoping and design approval documents.

Minimum Qualifications Current New York State employee with one year or more of qualifying permanent service allocated to a Grade 27 or above, be eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the NYS Civil Service Law, and have a New York State Professional Engineer's license with current registration.

Or Provisional Appointment Pending Examination:
Current New York State Thruway Authority employee with one year or more of qualifying permanent service as a Professional Engineer 1 (Civil/Transportation) and have a New York State Professional Engineer’s license with current registration.

Current New York State Thruway Authority employee with one year or more of qualifying permanent service as a Professional Engineer 1 (Civil/Transportation) and have a New York State Professional Engineer’s license with current registration.

ADDITIONAL PAY INFORMATION:
The salary range for this position includes all applicable annual components of pay which are:
Base Pay Range from Hiring Rate $102,629 up to Job Rate $143,226.
Recruitment & Retention Pay: $7,000.
