Duties Description Independently coordinates and performs various field activities for several project areas or counties within a region or projects within a statewide program area. Collects fish, wildlife, and flora specimens for identification, abundance, size, and quality. Coordinates and summarizes data collected from various sample collections/surveys. Supervises the construction and repair of habitat structures. Conducts wild fish egg takes, reclamation and liming activities. Assists in the preparation of media brochures and schedules, develops, and displays public presentations. Coordinates deed and tax map reviews related to wetlands. Assists with delineating and verifying wetland boundaries. Responds to nuisance wildlife complaints. Conducts field investigations to determine compliance with conditions of environmental permits. Prepares and delivers hunting and fishing education programs. Posts public fishing rights and wildlife management area boundaries. Maintains, repairs, and procures equipment, and performs intermediate GIS tasks. Coordinates and supervises deer and waterfowl check stations. Supervises Fish and Wildlife Technician 1, interns, and volunteers.

Minimum Qualifications Three years of experience in fisheries, wildlife, or marine resources management; fish or wildlife propagation; a living marine resources program; or a fish, wildlife, or marine research program.

Substitution: one year of college coursework including at least 12 semester credit hours in fisheries, marine resources, wildlife management, or a related field, may substitute for one year of the experience described.

Additional Comments This is a hourly appointment currently funded through 3/31/2026, with a likelihood of continuing beyond that date. Program needs and funding will determine actual termination date.

Must have a valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position.
Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain.
Must be able to work in remote areas.
Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions.
Travel may be required.
Overnight travel may be required.
Telecommuting may be available, will be discussed at interview.
