Duties Description The Economics Department at the State University of New York at Purchase invites applications for a tenure track position as Assistant Professor of Economics. Responsibilities include: teaching courses in principles of economics, elective courses in the candidate’s field of expertise, and a research methods or statistics course. Additionally, the Assistant Professor would oversee yearlong Senior Research Projects. Candidates who also have an interest in teaching Financial Economics and/or Money and Banking, Environmental Economics or International Economics may be preferred. The SUNY Purchase economics department serves more than 100 majors and minors in economics. We also support programs in Mathematics, Environmental Studies, and Arts Management.
Purchase College, located 25 miles north of New York City, ranked as one of the Top Ten Public Liberal Arts Colleges in the 2019 edition of U.S. News & World Report’s Best Colleges. Purchase College is also on the list of most ethnically diverse liberal arts colleges. The campus combines conservatory training in the arts with rigorous majors in the liberal arts and sciences.
Minimum Qualifications Ph.D. in Economics or a related field by August 2025 required. Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to student success and general education. Evidence of teaching excellence and scholarship potential is required.
