Duties Description Position Information:
Are you ready to be a part of the most exciting venue in New York State? The New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets is seeking a dedicated State Fair Worker to join our Safety Department at the Great New York State Fairgrounds in Syracuse, NY.
In this role, you'll be a key part of maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for all Fair visitors by:
• Providing direction and answering questions for guests
• Controlling access to Fair facilities and buildings by verifying visitor identification
• Conducting inspections to identify and address potential fire and safety hazards
• Assisting with camper sign-in and counts when camps are present on the Fairgrounds
• Placing signs, cones, and barricades as needed throughout the property
• Facilitating daily mail drop-off and pick-up at the Post Office and State Office building
• Supporting the Security and Parking Supervisors as required
This is a temporary position with no specified end date. It’s in the labor-class and is CSEA-represented offering a 40-hour work week. Enjoy a professional and comfortable working environment with convenient on-site, free parking.

Additional Comments Pay and Benefits:
This position offers a pay rate of $17.35/hour and excellent benefits! Benefits include but are not limited to inexpensive Health Insurance options, free Dental and Vision coverage, NYS Pension Plan membership, and generous paid time off. Within the first year, you are eligible for 5 days of personal time, 13 vacation days, 13 sick days, and 13 paid holidays!
As a New York State employee, you could potentially qualify to participate in the Federal Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program (PSLF)! The PSLF Program forgives the remaining balance on your direct loans after you have made 120 qualifying monthly payments under an accepted repayment plan and while working full-time for the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets or another eligible employer.
Minimum Qualifications:
There are no education or experience qualifications or requirements for these positions. Candidates must have the physical ability to perform work consisting of light or medium to heavy physical labor. When required to operate motor vehicles, candidates must possess a valid New York State driver's license appropriate for the type of vehicle to be operated.
