Duties Description JOB FUNCTIONS
Essential Functions:
Operates production color digital presses like those manufactured by industry leaders such as Ricoh, Xerox and Canon
Operates production large format flatbed UV and latex roll-to-roll printers like those manufactured by industry leaders such as Ricoh, Mimaki and Canon
Works with Adobe Acrobat Pro and print job management systems such as Fiery Command Workstation and Onyx
Operates digital production bindery machines like those manufactured by industry leaders such as Duplo, Morgana, Colex and Baum
Receives, reviews, and sets up print jobs for production from online storefront production queue
Non-Essential Functions:
Works with CMYK+ color space; evaluates and adjusts production color via a software interface
Works with fine printing paper grades and specifications
Answers questions from and provides information to various parties regarding department activities, workflow and procedures. Refers inquires to supervisors as necessary
Operates various communication systems such as telephones and computers; and keep records of such communications
Performs routine processing activities; checks print projects for completeness and accuracy.
Packages completed jobs and prepares them for campus delivery
Assists with local campus graphics installations as needed - wall, window, and floor graphics both indoors and outdoors
Receives, unloads, unpacks, sorts, stores, counts, and distributes goods received by the office following established procedure
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Qualifications:
Open Competitive: one year of printing equipment operating experience.
Promotion: one year of permanent competitive service as a Print Equipment Operator 1 (Digital).
Preferred Qualifications:
Sound mechanical aptitude and problem solving skills both with hardware and software in a print production environment
Knowledge of and/or experience in the pre-press processes and software involved in setting up digital artwork files for successful printing
Experience in light manufacturing environment in the digital printing or graphic arts industry, operating relevant equipment and completing professional print work
Knowledge of and/or experience in the production and installation of large format digital wall and vehicle graphics
Good communication skills are required to effectively interact with vendor service support technicians, campus customers and department manager to ensure good quality printing
A high level of organization and skill in multi-tasking is required to ensure print jobs are done at highest possible quality, by deadline or earlier
High school graduation or equivalent
