Salary RangeFrom $150366 to $169238 Annually
Duties Description The duties of the Director of Finance include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Assisting the Deputy CFO – Finance with the strategic decisions for the department
- Effectively coaching and mentoring direct reports
- Setting priorities for the department, and various units within Finance
- Supporting the individual and collective growth of department staff
- Effectively managing resources to meet department needs
- Making key decisions on policies and procedures, especially within the framework of ongoing ERP projects and internal audits
- Collaborate effectively with other managers and directors within NYSTRS in solving cross-functional issues
- Ensuring compliance with federal, state and local rules and regulations (i.e. W-2 and 1099 reporting)
- Overseeing the accurate and timely completion of quarterly and annual financial documents
- Assisting the Deputy CFO- Finance with integration of the Budget Department into the CFO division
- Preparing the department budget so that it reflects the department needs and ensuring spending stays within budget
- Ensuring support of members needs as it pertains to payments to and from members, school districts, and beneficiaries, as well as communication with members effectively
- Ensuring support of our internal teams as it pertains to financial functions (i.e. purchasing, payroll and tax, travel booking and reporting, vendor payable, and financial reporting)
Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in accounting, finance or another business-related field; AND
- Five years of experience in a management role where you were responsible for the oversight of the accounting/finance functions in an organization; AND
- A Certified Public Accountant
