Duties Description Under the supervision of a higher-level Human Resources manager, the selected candidate will assist in the direction and planning of the Benefits Unit in the Personnel Bureau. Working with program managers, supervisors, and employees, duties will include but are not limited to:

• Applying time and attendance rules and regulations;
• Managing all Leave Programs for employees (FMLA, Workers Compensation, Military Leave, etc);
• Providing guidance to employees, managers, and regional Personnel staff regarding time and attendance rules and regulations and employee benefit programs;
• Ensuring that Civil Service Law, Rules and Regulations, as well as department procedures and negotiated agreements, are appropriately applied;
• Review requests for reasonable accommodation;
• Supervision of lower-level staff in the Unit;
• Special projects as assigned.


Responsibilities may include serving a role within the Incident Command System to support the department’s response to regional and statewide emergency situations.

Minimum Qualifications To be considered for permanent appointment, candidates must be reachable on the current Civil Service eligible list or be eligible for reassignment or transfer in accordance with Civil Service Law.
