Duties Description Under the direction of the Chief Information Officer (CIO) and Assistant Director of
Information Technology Servies, the Assistant Manager of Information Services - Cloud Architecture (AMISCA) will provide strategic leadership within NYSIF’s Information Technology Services (ITS) department. Leading ITS’ Cloud Architecture projects, the AMISCA will drive NYSIF’s innovation and growth, ensuring cloud-based applications are managed efficiently and securely. The AMISCA will design cloud-based application management frameworks, ensure cloud infrastructure security and compliance, implement cloud management processes, and build cloud systems models and strategies. The AMISCA will improve and mature NYSIF’s cloud architecture models, reviewing and analyzing cloud infrastructure,
planning future cloud deployments, and implementing solutions that help NYSIF satisfy their communication, data storage, security, and networking needs. The incumbent will make cloud-based application technology decisions, supervise the implementation of cloud system designs and develop high-performance cloud architects.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Strategic Leadership:
• Serve as the lead for cloud architecture advisory, collaborating with ITS managers and guiding cross-functional teams with cloud deployments.
• Lead the development and management of the Cloud Architecture program, developing a team dedicated to support cloud initiatives.
• Formulate and implement cloud systems management technology policies and standards, incorporating industry best practices.
• Oversee the creation and enforcement of cloud architecture standards and procedures.
Operational Excellence:
• Conduct strategic cloud systems management IT evaluations and manage proof-of-concept projects.
• Offer strategic cloud systems management IT guidance to executive and senior ITS management.
Governance and Compliance:
• Oversee the assessment and tracking of exception requests to established cloud systems management technology.
• Oversee the maintenance of cloud architecture offerings within the ITS Technical Service Catalog.
• Identify technical risks and develop mitigation strategies to address them.
• Ensure that cloud management solutions adhere to security, compliance, and regulatory requirements.
Advisory and Support:
• Provide assessment, guidance, and recommendations for purchases that include cloud services.
• Develop and oversee upkeep of cloud resource tracking.
• Support business stakeholders, cloud architects, and service owners with mentoring and guidance.
• Perform the full range of supervisory duties.
Strategic Development:
• Collaborate across ITS teams to maintain and evolve cloud systems IT roadmaps.
• Establish and uphold cloud systems management IT standards that drive consistency in innovation.
• Work with operational teams to develop business metrics that support and enhance NYSIF’s cloud systems management security and strategic initiative alignment.
• Drive continuous improvement in cloud management solution architecture processes and practices. Identify opportunities to streamline processes, improve efficiency, and enhance cloud management solution quality.
Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
• Ten (10) years of broad information technology (IT) experience*, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of software engineering, cloud engineering, or other cloud-related specialty and its application within large-scale organizations, including
o At least seven (7) years of focused experience in cloud-based applications solution architecture, with a track record of leading and developing cloud architecture programs, AND
o Three (3) years of supervisory-level or two (2) years of managerial-level experience in cloud architecture, cloud engineering, or a related technical field.
*Substitutions: A degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field may substitute for the broad IT experience as outlined below:
• Bachelor’s degree may substitute for three years of experience.
• Master’s degree may substitute for an additional one year of experience.
• Doctorate may substitute for an additional two years of experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Relevant cloud architecture certification, including but not limited to:
o Arcitura Certified Cloud Architect
o AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Professional)
o Google Professional Cloud (GPC) Architect
o IBM Certified Solution Architect
o Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect (Expert)
• Strong leadership skills with experience in mentoring and developing teams of
cloud-based technology professionals.
• Excellent analytical, strategic planning, and execution skills.
• Proven experience in fostering innovation and driving cloud-based application technological advancement in alignment with business goals.
• Experience in collaborating across multiple organizational levels and departments to drive consensus and deliver results.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage
effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
• Strong problem-solving abilities with expertise in diagnosing complex
issues across multiple cloud systems, efficiently identifying root causes, and
developing effective solutions.
• Proven expertise in software engineering and DevOps principles, including knowledge of DevOps workflows and tools, such as Github, containers, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipeline.
