Duties Description New York State Senator Jessica Ramos is seeking a proactive team player with excellent written and verbal skills to join her team as her Social Media Specialist. This is a part-time, 20 hours per week position based in the Senator’s District Office in Jackson Heights.
The Social Media Specialist will play a key role in maintaining brand narrative, crafting digital strategy, launching social campaigns, creating and managing social media content, and tracking performance to measure and improve results. Working with the Communications Director, the Social Media Specialist will help develop and implement a digital communications strategy on behalf of the Senator.
In this dynamic role, you will:
•Work with the Albany office to formulate communications strategy and supplement communications outreach
•Plan, develop, and execute social media strategies consistent with
messaging and planned objectives
•Work with the team to rapidly develop, create and manage digital content from relevant topics that resonate with targeted audiences
•Launch, monitor, evaluate and manage social media campaigns
•Monitor and report movement surrounding trending topics that pertain to key messaging
•Help build and maintain a social media editorial calendar
•Produce regular reports for internal and external use.
Minimum Qualifications To be considered, you must have:
•Two years of professional experience in social media content development, management, and/or analysis or some combination of marketing and communications experience that includes a strong and demonstrable focus on social media
•Excellent knowledge of and experience using Twitter/X, LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook,YouTube, and an interest in other growing social platforms
•Excellent understanding of Facebook's business and ads manager platforms
•Ability to work collaboratively across multiple teams
•Strong copywriting and copy-editing skills with great attention to details.
•Familiarity with creating different forms of content (video, photo editing, websites) for use on social media and the ability to make quick turnaround edits as needed
•A bachelor's degree in communications, marketing or related field
The ideal candidate will also have:
•An understanding of Hootsuite and/or other social planning tools
•Familiarity with Adobe Photoshop or other Adobe Suite products
•Familiarity with Restream
•Familiarity and/or willingness to learn basic website building and design skills
Additional Comments The salary range is $25,000 to $30,000, commensurate with education and experience.
