Duties Description Manhattan Psychiatric Center is currently recruiting a Mental Hygiene Staff Development Specialist 2 to assist higher-level specialists in planning, organizing, and presenting institution and community-based training programs designed to improve the knowledge and abilities of those responsible for care, program, treatment, and well-being of individuals with mental disabilities in various mental hygiene settings.

As a Mental Hygiene Staff Development Specialist 2, duties include, but are not limited to:
• Participate in training programs
• Gather data to support the development and organization of training programs
• Identify training needs
• Conduct informational sessions concerning training available

Minimum Qualifications Candidates from outside or within State Service can be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement – Statewide (NY HELPS) program as Mental Hygiene Staff Development Specialist 2 if they have:
• Bachelor’s degree in a human services field and
• One (1) year of experience in the direct preparation and delivery of classroom training in a mental hygiene setting.

OR

Candidates from within State Service can be considered if they have one (1) year of service as a Mental Hygiene Staff Development Specialist 1.

OR

Candidates from within State Service can be considered for transfer to a competitive class position if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.
