Duties Description Under the direction of a Manager of Information Technology Services within the Chief Information Security Office/Information Security Engineering/Patching section, the position will supervise the Patch Testing Coordination unit which is responsible for working with all supported agencies and other teams within the Office of Information Technology Services to provide and maintain a list of testers for workstation patching. The incumbent will evaluate and monitor the deployments, efficiency, and needs for security patching on ITS supported Windows systems, supervise subordinate staff, and act as a team member providing in-depth subject matter expertise on patching processes, procedures, tools, and best practices. The incumbent will also serve as a member of the Windows Patching unit to provide help as needed during patch cycles.
The position requires availability during off-shift hours to ensure appropriate response to security incidents or other critical activities that may impact sensitive information, critical systems, NYS agencies, or ITS. Additional information on work schedule will be discussed at time of interview.
Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
• Communicate with contacts from other teams and agencies.
• Maintain and update a list of testers for workstation patching.
• Work with contacts and IT support staff on issues that may have been caused by patching.
• Attend necessary meetings, etc. to coordinate above tasks with agency support staff, ITS staff, and others.
• Report on measurable data pertaining to Windows patching.
• Monitor and remain aware of information security industry trends, tools, and techniques.
• Evaluate and monitor the deployment, efficiency and needs for security patching (Microsoft and third party) on ITS supported Windows systems.
• Provide technical assistance to other teams within CISO and ITS as required.
• Perform the full range of supervisory responsibilities.
• Ensure that all communications, processes, and teams within Information Security Engineering are done in consideration of the operational concerns and workloads of peer teams throughout CISO and CTO, and that staff always maintain the collaborative attitude and open communications required to successfully carry out the mission of CISO and CTO.
• Monitor and remain aware of information security industry trends, tools, and techniques.
Minimum Qualifications Non-competitive: seven years of information technology, cybersecurity, or information assurance experience**, including one year at the supervisory level.
**Substitutions:
A bachelor's or higher-level degree in any field including or supplemented by 15 semester credit hours in computer science or related field substitutes for three years of required experience; any bachelor’s substitutes for two years of required experience.
An associate degree with 15 semester credit hours in computer science or related field may substitute for one year of required experience. Candidates in a bachelor’s degree program with at least 15 semester credit hours in computer science or related field may substitute such credits for one year of required experience.
A master’s degree or higher in computer science or related field substitutes for one year of required experience.
Additional Comments ITS will not offer permanent employment to any candidate unless the candidate provides documentation that they are authorized to accept work in the United States on a permanent basis. It is the policy of ITS not to hire F1 or H1 visa holders for permanent employment or to sponsor non-immigrant aliens for temporary work authorization visas or for permanent residence.

If eligible, positions located in New York City will receive an additional $3,400 downstate adjustment location pay with regular annual salary. Positions located in the Mid-Hudson will receive an additional $1,650 adjustment location pay.
