Duties Description Laboratory Animal Caretakers maintain animal laboratory, cleans and washes facilities, cages, and other equipment, and performs other housekeeping duties as scheduled and directed to ensure that facilities are clean and adequately supplied. Laboratory Animal Caretakers observe animals to detect symptoms of disease and changes in condition. They encounter animals carrying a variety of communicable diseases including zoonosis. In handling, treating, feeding and all other contacts with such animals, incumbents use techniques designed to minimize the hazards of their own infection, as well as the contamination of uninfected stock or experimental animals.

Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:

There are no minimum education or experience qualifications, however a completed application is required to be considered for this position.

Operating Needs:

Ability to lift 50lbs of animal feed and/or supplies. May be required to work on weekends and holidays on a rotating basis.
