Duties Description The Nurse Practitioner (NP) (Acute Care) will provide primary health care in collaboration with a licensed physician or physicians. They will assess the physical and psychosocial status of residents by means of interview, health history, physical examination, and diagnostic tests. They will diagnose illnesses, perform therapeutic measures, and conduct employee’s health examinations according to practice agreements and protocols established with the physician(s).
NOTES: 1. If failure to maintain license and registration once appointed, action will be taken to be remove incumbent from the position. 2. To be eligible for appointment and to maintain employment, one cannot be listed as an excluded individual or entity on any of the Federal and State Medicaid and Medicare exclusion lists (or be excluded from any other Federal or Federally assisted program). If appointed and subsequently listed as an excluded individual or entity on any of these lists (or excluded from any other Federal or federally assisted program), employment may be terminated. 3. If appointed, incumbent may be required to become an enrolled Medicare provider, obtain a National Provider Identifier (NPI) number issued by the National Plan and Provider Enumeration System (NPPES), and actively participate, as needed, to enable services to be billed through Medicare and Medicaid. If ability to bill through Medicare and Medicaid is lost, employment may be terminated.
Minimum Qualifications Open Competitive HELPS: Certification and current registration as a Nurse Practitioner in a specialty practice area by the New York State Education Department.
Preferred Qualifications: Long Term Care experience is preferred.
Additional Comments Days off: Alternate Weekends/Friday & Monday
One permanent, competitive full-time appointment, or non-competitive, full-time appointment via HELPS.

The posted salary includes the increased hiring salary ($23,954), geographic pay differential ($40,000) and Downstate adjustment ($4,000).
This position is part of the NYS HELPS program. No examination is required.
