Duties Description Assembly Republican Conference – Office of Research & Public Policy
Salary: $45,000 annually, with room for growth

The Assembly Republican Conference is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Policy Analyst to join the Office of Research & Public Policy. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who is passionate about public service, legislative research, and shaping policy that impacts communities across New York State.

As a key contributor to the Conference’s policy development efforts, the Policy Analyst will support the creation of legislative initiatives, assist members and staff, and provide high-quality research and analysis on a wide range of public policy issues.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist with developing and drafting the Assembly Republican Conference legislative agenda.

Establish and maintain a database to track all proposals submitted by Conference Members in specified issue areas for potential inclusion in the legislative agenda.

Collaborate with the Leader, district office staff, Members, and Albany staff on a variety of public policy and legislative matters, including drafting legislation, sponsor’s memos, and tracking bill status.

Create agendas for staff-level policy development meetings and track the progress of staff-submitted policy proposals.

Summarize legislation in assigned issue areas and provide detailed histories on major public policy initiatives and topics.

Assist legislative staff with developing, editing, and formatting fact sheets on significant topics.

Support the creation of the final interactive fact sheet document containing all submissions to the database.

Attend committee meetings and pre-committee briefings for assigned committees as time permits.

Assist Members in implementing and advancing their legislative priorities.

Engage with interest groups to understand and discuss their legislative agendas, and brief staff and Members on relevant information.

Minimum Qualifications Bachelors degree
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Exceptional attention to detail and organization
Ability to analyze complex information and present it clearly
Comfortable working in a fast-paced legislative environment
Professional, discreet, and team-oriented
Interest in public policy, government operations, and legislative processes
